Changelog
Newest first. Every entry is something you can see in the build; nothing here is a plan. Plans live in the source repository.
0.2.0 — usable local AI: template-matched drafts, interactive analytics
- AI drafting you can actually reach. The local engine is found wherever it lives — beside the app, in your case folder, on
PATH, or a binary you point to — so “Draft with the model” works regardless of where you launched from. It’s never hidden: when it isn’t ready it tells you exactly why and offers one-click fixes (install the engine, point at allama-cliyou already have, point at a folder of models, or choose a model). Generation errors show in the Drafts panel instead of vanishing. - Drafts match the template. AI drafts now follow the chosen filing’s layout — court caption, headings, prayers and signature blocks — with the narrative sections written for your specific case. Token and context limits were raised so a full document isn’t cut off.
- Interactive analytics. Hover the throughput and CPU/RAM charts for a crosshair and a value tooltip. A new Local model service panel shows, status-page style, a live status pill, session uptime, availability (with the SLA “nines”), average speed, and a green/red bar of recent runs.
- Fine-tune sliders are now visible (the track had blended into the background).
- Zero-setup “with AI” bundle. A self-contained build can ship the engine and a small model beside the app, so drafting works offline on first launch with no downloads.
- Windows and Linux binaries (direct
.exe;.tar.gz), each withSHA256SUMS. - Bootable USB live image. An amnesic, TUI-only live system —
wakili-live-amd64.iso— in the manner of Tails: boot a borrowed or seized machine straight into Wakili, run entirely in RAM with networking off, and leave nothing on its disk. Built and boot-tested end-to-end (QEMU: isolinux → live system → auto-login → interactive TUI). Hybrid BIOS + UEFI. See the USB image docs.
0.1.2 — onboarding, analytics, fine-tune, macOS
- Onboarding. A proper two-column guide with illustrations, pagination, and acceptance of the Terms of Service & Privacy Policy before you begin.
- Analytics. A dashboard page with live token-throughput and CPU/RAM graphs while the model runs, per-run history, and an error log — so you can see slow-downs, spikes and failures.
- Live usage. Tokens and tokens/sec show as the model writes.
- Fine-tune. Settings gains a Fine-tune tab — temperature, top-p, max tokens, context and fixed-seed controls that actually drive the next draft.
- Timeline redesigned (dated events, connected dots, notes); procedure items show the due date and days remaining coloured by urgency (red ≤3, orange 4–7, silver ≥8), with per-item fix-the-date and a working service note.
- macOS support — local notifications and native open; support contact nimrodwalwe9@gmail.com.
0.1.1 — streaming, semantic precedent, Linux
- Live drafting. The desktop Drafting tab now streams tokens as the local model writes them — you watch the draft appear, with a caret, and can read as it goes.
- Semantic precedent. When the embeddings model (
te-nomic-embed) is installed, the Precedent tab ranks the Kenya Law corpus for your case by meaning — cosine similarity blended with the article/issue/court score — and falls back to keyword ranking otherwise, so it never breaks. - Linux build.
wakili-terminal-linux-x64.tar.gz(CLI + TUI) andwakili-desktop-linux-x64.tar.gz(GUI, needs a GL display). macOS is enabled in the release workflow and builds on CI; the USB image is still planned. - Windows ships as direct
.exedownloads (GUI + terminal), no unzip needed.
0.1.0 — first Windows build
Desktop app (Windows / Fluent)
- Full native Fluent shell: welcome onboarding, a CASES / THIS CASE source list, a command bar, and a live inspector.
- Case workspace with tabs — Evidence · Timeline · Drafts · Precedent — all driven by the real case, no sample data.
- Evidence mechanics: filing references (E-014), append-only seal, tombstone remove with a cited-in warning, and add-a-date recorded as your statement.
- Type-to-confirm dialogs (new case, edit date, remove evidence, delete case, delete draft, quit, network fetch) and undoable toasts.
- Procedure: set the incident date, a responsive month calendar you can page and click, and consequence lines for every deadline.
- Drafting: generate from a template + the case's facts and exhibits; Preview PDF and Download PDF (real paginated A4, Markdown rendered).
- Precedent ranked for the case against the local, verified Kenya Law corpus (article/issue overlap + binding-court boost).
- Safety build: choose what goes in the bundle, type “build bundle” to arm it, with progress / on-drive / drive-removed states.
- Settings (Privacy / Model / Storage / Updates), idle-lock, amnesic mode, and a passphrase step with a confirm field, a click-to-build word bank, and a downloadable key file.
- Verify: this installation's fingerprint next to the auditors', plus
wakili doctor. - Windows notification-centre deadline reminders (case name only if you allow it).
- Scales-of-justice logo throughout, and an embedded Windows
.exeicon.
Core & command line
- Encrypted vault (Argon2id + XChaCha20-Poly1305), duress vault, panic wipe, amnesic mode.
- Evidence codex (hashing, classification, PDF text + optional OCR, timestamp extraction), append-only chain.
- Deterministic Kenya procedure engine; per-case precedent linker over an embedded Kenya Law corpus.
- Local generation via a llama.cpp backend (subprocess), with T0 deterministic drafting when no model is present.
- New commands:
evidence seal, evidence remove --reason,draft export(PDF),doctor. - Backend installer hardened: retries, a pinned fallback that does not need the GitHub API, and an offline
backend install --from <archive>path. - MCP stdio server with three permission rings; embedded console in the TUI.
Security
- Resolved a high-severity advisory (RUSTSEC-2026-0187) in the PDF stack: the draft PDF writer is now self-contained (no
lopdf), and PDF text extraction uses a fixed dependency. - Supply-chain audit runs on every change; reviewed non-vulnerability advisories are documented and pinned.
Known limits
- Only Windows is shipped as a download today. macOS, Linux and the USB image are planned; build from source in the meantime.
- Wakili is unsigned by design — verify the fingerprint before opening.
- Reproducible-build instructions are being finalised.
Every release publishes a SHA256SUMS file next to the binaries.
