Privacy policy

Plain language, because privacy is the whole point.

The short version

Wakili is built so there is nothing to collect. The application runs entirely on your own computer and is offline by default. This website exists to describe and distribute it — it has no analytics, no advertising, no cookies, and no third-party scripts. Loading this page sets nothing on your device.

The application

• No account. There is no sign-up, no login to any server, and no identity attached to your use of Wakili.
• No uploading. Your files, cases, drafts and passphrase never leave your computer. Wakili has no server to send them to.
• Local storage only. Cases live in an encrypted vault in a folder you choose. If you place that folder in a synced location (OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox), the sync service — not Wakili — may copy it; Wakili warns you and does not do this itself.
• Network use is explicit. The only times Wakili touches the network are when you ask it to: downloading a model, installing the AI engine, or fetching an auditors' fingerprint list. Each is optional, and each tells you before it happens.
• Notifications. Deadline reminders are local to your machine. They name a case only if you turn that on in Settings; by default they say only that a deadline is near.
• No recovery, no backdoor. Wakili keeps no copy of your passphrase and cannot recover your data. There is no key held anywhere.

What your operating system records

Wakili cannot control records your own operating system keeps outside it — search indexing, recent-files lists, thumbnails, event logs — nor that a removable drive was written to. It is honest about this: those traces exist, and someone with access to the computer may see that Wakili was used and when a bundle was built.

This website

• No cookies are set. No analytics or tracking pixels are used. No fonts or scripts are loaded from third parties.
• Downloads are served as static files. Standard server request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested file) may be retained transiently by the hosting provider for operational and security purposes; they are not used to profile you and are not shared.
• If you follow a link to the source repository or an external site, that site's own policies apply.

Children

Wakili is a professional tool for legal work and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, it changes here first, and material changes are noted in the changelog. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing to notify you about individually.
